What do RI and DI stand for?
The “RI” in CARON’s incubators refers to “Refrigerated Incubator”. The refrigerated incubators provide temperature control from 5 to 60°C.

The “DI” in CARON’s incubators refers to “Diurnal Incubator”. Diurnal incubators differentiate from the Refrigerated Incubators because they offer a light package. With the lights off, the DI incubators provide temperature control from 5 to 60°C, with the lights on, the temperature control is 10 to 60°C.

How are the incubators different from the chambers?
The primary difference between CARON’s incubators and chambers is that the incubators do not have the humidity capabilities that the chambers do. Another difference is that the model 6030RI and 6030DI have a standard light tight door cover, and the 6030 has a standard full-view glass door.

I have a PC and want to control or monitor the incubator from that PC, is this possible?

As a standard feature, the incubator’s temperature controller is equipped with RS-485 communications interface that could be used to provide data logging, set-up and operation from a PC.

As accessories, CARON offers computer software and chart recorders for your data logging requirements. The software can be used for real time operation, set-up, and data logging and is very user friendly. A single-pen circular chart recorder provides highly accurate temperature recordings for 24 hour to 7-day operation.

Are there any restrictions to where I locate the incubator within my facility?
The CARON incubator must be located in a dry, clean and level area. Allow a 4” clearance from the back and top of the unit for proper air circulation and ease of installation. Locate the incubator in an area out of direct sunlight and away from heating and cooling ducts.

Can I purchase an incubator from CARON and have it upgraded with humidity at a later date?
It is highly recommended that, if you have the slightest inclination to need humidity at some point in the future, you purchase the chamber with humidity and temperature now. This will save you time and money in the long run. It is complicated and costly to provide a humidity retrofit to a chamber once it has already been manufactured.
